Established in 1980, Bywell Shooting Ground reigns supreme as the premier destination for trapshooting and high-bird practice in the North-East of England. Conveniently located near the A1, the shooting grounds are set amongst picturesque Northumbrian countryside alongside their working arable farm. Over the years, Bywell Shooting Ground has undergone substantial expansion, evolving into a Premier Plus rated shooting destination with a diverse array of disciplines for shooting enthusiasts. Boasting multiple layouts, the ground has hosted prestigious shooting competitions including the British and English Open Championships and the European Championship. Recognised for its excellence, the ground is among the elite 20 grounds awarded Premier Plus status by the Clay Pigeon Shooting Association (CPSA).

Lofty Layouts

The ground features 12 Down the Line layouts, 6 Automatic Ball Trap layouts, skeet layouts, and additional areas dedicated to sportrap and English sporting layouts. Delve into a wide selection of driven targets at Bywell Shooting Ground, including simulations of grouse and high pheasants, with highlights such as a towering 90ft structure that promises to put your shooting skills to the ultimate test. Set across over 10 acres of meticulously manicured lawns, the grounds provide an idyllic backdrop for shooters of all disciplines.

Wide Range of Disciplines

Bywell Shooting Ground offers a full range of clay pigeon disciplines to suit shooters of all levels. These are available to shoot in both their CPSA registered competitions and their regular practice sessions. Down the Line (DTL) shooting is one of the oldest forms of clay pigeon shooting. It offers an ideal starting point for novices, presenting a plethora of targets to engage with while instilling the importance of focused concentration on the firing line. Additional disciplines include Sportrap, English Skeet, English Sporting and Double Rise, not to mention Automatic Ball Trap. The ground runs open practice sessions open to all people with a valid shotgun certificate. They operate practice with the Promatic Claymate system allowing you to shoot with ease and maximum enjoyment whether you are coming to shoot alone or in a group.

Comprehensive Service

Aside from expert coaching, Bywell Shooting Ground boasts an extremely well stocked gunroom which has one of the largest selections of new and pre-owned shotguns in the country. You can try before you buy on any second hand or demo guns, which can be tested on one of the clay pigeon shooting layouts. Whether you need help with gun fitting, repairs or servicing, the expert team are always on hand to help and offer advice.
