Auchterhouse Country Sports – Scotland’s Premier Shooting Ground

A Family Affair

Auchterhouse Country Sports boasts one of Scotland's top-tier shooting grounds, earning the prestigious title of Scotland's Favourite Shooting Ground. Located in the picturesque Angus countryside, just an hour from both Edinburgh and Aberdeen, and a mere hour and fifteen minutes from Glasgow, Auchterhouse is easily accessible from the A90 trunk road, making it a convenient destination for visitors from the central belt of Scotland.

The shooting ground is a real family affair, overseen by the Christies: Gavin, Evelyn, Drew and Emma. With shooting coursing through their veins, it's no surprise that Gavin, Drew, and Emma have all proudly represented Scotland on the international stage, with Drew clinching a Commonwealth silver medal in Olympic Skeet at the home games in 2014.

Top-Tier Shooting

Local, national and international shooting competitions are regularly hosted at Auchterhouse Country Sports, attracting top-tier competitors from around the globe. With amenities including four skeet ranges (three of which are adaptable for Olympic skeet), four Down the Line (DTL), one Automatic Ball Trap (ABT) range, one Olympic Trap range, one Sportrap range, twelve sporting stands and the renowned 'High Tower,' there's ample opportunity for shooters of all levels to hone their skills. Plus, the ground streamlines operations with the user-friendly pay and play Promatic Card System. Unsurprising therefore that the ground draws enthusiasts of every skill level and discipline.

Auchterhouse Country Sports also serves as an ideal venue for corporate events, team building days or special celebrations. The ground offers customisable packages specifically tailored to your requirements with a range of activities and catering options. A cosy meeting room is equipped with everything needed to host an event and there’s ample on-site parking, so groups of all sizes can be accommodated.

What to Wear

Choosing clothing that allows you to move freely is crucial, but be mindful not to wear anything too baggy that could cause your gun to slip out of position. For a first visit to Auchterhouse Country Sports, casual and comfortable attire is perfectly suitable. Alan Paine clothing ensures you're dressed appropriately regardless of the weather. Layering is essential, as even during summer, conditions can be unpredictable. Consider versatile mid-layers for added warmth on cooler days.
